When we look in the Mumbai plant, they consists of two buildings. First or the new one take care of making bottles, purifying water, testing, filling bottles and packing them. Second building or the old one take care of taking orders, storing bottles (in batches) and filling up in trucks.
We were not allowed to visit second or old one, spoilers alert the first building was awesome. When you enter a factory there is sign that you cannot take pictures but that was not the case here, rather inside the lift they have a poster saying “Go Ahead take pictures, this building is camera friendly” which honestly saying was giving pretty good vibes.
We started from the 3rd floor, which consists of ambiance, auditorium and some testing laboratory. Ambiance was great with so many creative things, auditorium was classic and labs where of next level. Then we went on 2nd floor were all the magic takes place. They import a raw material known as “PET”(as shown in thumbnail of image), it passes through the 1st machine were hot air is blown and bottles takes shape.then bottles passes through. 2nd machine where they are filled with purified water. 3rd machine caps all the bottles. 4th machine labels them and 5th machine separates them in batches. And then passes taken down via. vertical mechanism. And 1st floor consists of different departments were employees work.
The tour was good and we get to learn how the machine works. One thing noticed there was 85% automation in the factory people where only managing the machine. Then Q&A Round began, there where many questions but we have extracted the interesting and important one.
How do you forecast your demand?
- Receiver needs to give order 24 hr. Before, delivery is shipped mostly on time.
As summer is most profitable season for you which season affects your business the most?
-Rainy season, because demand is less.
Do you use recycled plastic to make bottles?
-Only for 20 liter bottles , they are cleaned properly and then filled and shipped.
How many bottles are produced and shipped in a day?
-Shipment totally depends on demand and production rate is 180 bottles per minute.
Do you have your own services? And how many distributor do you have?
-Yes, we have our own shipping service which consists of many trucks and we hold roughly around 5000 distributor all over India.
