Before applying for verification on Instagram make sure your account meets every below requirement,
Complete - According to Instagram, your account needs to be complete in every way i.e. your account need to have a BIO, Profile Picture, at least one post, and be public.
(To Set Your Account as Public, open Instagram go to "settings" then "Privacy" then "Account Privacy" and make sure "Private Account" is toggled off.)
Notable - Meaning that person or brand should be well known and highly searched on various search engines and featured in multiple news sources.
Authentic - According to Instagram, your account should be authentic i.e. it must represent a real person or business.
Now, if you satisfy all the requirements you can apply for verification.

Verification Process -
- From setting tap on "Account".
- Then tap on "Request Verification".
- Enter your full name .
- Enter what you're know as.
- And Select a category that best describes your account.
- Lastly attach a PHOTO OF AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT, it can be Driver's licence/ Passport/Recent utility bill.
- When you ready tap on "Send".
It can take up to month for Instagram to reply, if you get rejected you can apply again after a month.
