So how does these affect us…?
Well Deepfakes can be use to spread a false information thought some public figure. Also, this technology is just some steps away from becoming almost perfect...it will then be capable of biometric fraud.
A recent scandal of deepfake was when, 243,000 US$ were stolen via. audio deepfake from a UK based company. The cybercriminals called the U.K. company's CEO pretending to be the CEO of the parent company and told to transfer the money.
These deepfake can also be used in the pornography.
Precautions - Tech giants like Google, Facebook, Microsoft & Twitter are taking stand now… they are trying to remove fake content from their platforms. They are trying to do this in most effective manner. And spending millions of dollars. They are starting campaign & removing account for violation of their policy. This is done with the help of Geometric Deep Learning. To be safe stop using these kinds of application.
